St. Joseph Catholic School Orchestra provides a well-rounded musical education for every child. This education focuses on building a solid foundation of musical knowledge upon which artistic performances are built. In addition to providing a quality music education, the Orchestra also recognizes the need to educate the whole child. We seek to develop the character and citizenship of each member of our orchestra, assisting each child to attain his/her own personal best.
Students in grades 2-8 may receive instrumental lessons through the orchestra program. Additional fees for participation in the orchestra are arranged through this program. The school orchestra performs an annual spring concert and other orchestra performances.
Orchestra lessons are every Tuesday - beginning in September. The classes are 45-minute lessons. Groups are made according to ability and instrument. (Beginning Flute, Beginning Clarinet, etc). The lessons are during the school day. The students are pulled out of their other classes for Orchestra. Students who sign up for Orchestra are expected to attend the Orchestra Lessons every week, and to make up the work missed while doing so. The schedule rotates in order to avoid students missing the same part of their classes every week.
